The grieving parents of a teenage boy allegedly mown down and killed while walking along the footpath have been dealt another cruel blow with the devastating news the ''drug-addled' driver has been released on bail.

Adam Ghoz was walking with a friend in Casula, in Sydney's south-west in January when he was allegedly struck by a car which veered across two lanes of traffic on the Hume Highway before mounting the kerb.

Mr Ghoz was rushed to hospital in a critical condition with head, lower leg and pelvic injuries but died the next day.

Cameron Forsyth, then 37, was charged with a string of driving offences and has spent the last eight months behind bars.

He was released from prison on bail last week as he awaits his trial which has been delayed by Covid-19 lockdowns, a decision which has shattered Adam's parents.
