Wendy Williams 'was drinking every day' before her hospitalization last week, according to a report, and is 'in need of serious help'. The chat show host, 57, was admitted to a New York City hospital on September 14, Page Six said. Five days before, she had cancelled all promotional activities for the new season of The Wendy Williams Show. Her spokesman said via Instagram that Williams was 'dealing with some ongoing health issues'. On Monday, Williams was said by an insider to have been 'drinking every day, even while filming the show.' Wendy Williams was seen on September 10 arriving at her New York City home in a gown and hospital slippers The 57-year-old was seen leaning on the arm of an assistant as she entered her building Williams has been open in the past about her struggle with substance abuse and health issues The source told The Sun: 'Everyone is an enabler because they don't want to lose their job. 'They see it, they know it, they smelled the liquor.' Williams has been open with viewers about her struggles with Graves' disease, hyperthyroidism, lymphedema and substance abuse issues. She checked into a sober living house in 2019, after divorcing her husband of 20 years, Kevin Hunter, when he cheated on her. She told her viewers in April 2020: 'I'm moving out of the sober house in just a few days, you know. It'll be Wendy on her own. 'I have to tell you, you know, I've been dealing with issues with addiction, alcoholism, and I have a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son.' Williams is known for her outspoken views and fearless embrace of controversy Williams is seen with her husband Kevin Hunter in July 2018. They divorced in 2019 - the same year that he welcomed a daughter with his massage therapist girlfriend, Sharina Hudson Yet the source told the site that she had rapidly resumed drinking. 'Wendy drinks every day and the only time she was sober was when she was at the sober house,' the source said. 'Her staffers are worried but no one is ever going to speak up because they don't want to lose their jobs. 'She's an alcoholic. A bad one. She doesn't need a talk show, she needs help.' On September 10 photos obtained by DailyMail.com showed Williams returning to her Manhattan apartment in a gown and hospital slippers, looking visibly unwell and leaning on an aide for help. On September 15, her spokesman announced that she was suffering from COVID, despite being fully vaccinated. Williams is seen hosting her show, which rivaled Ellen DeGeneres in the daytime stakes Her brother Tommy wrote on Instagram: 'I really do believe and have the faith that Wendy's going to make it… 'We've been hit just like other families. You know it's not easy [but] you got to dig yourself out, you got to hold on to the memories and we have some good ones.' He continued: 'She's doing well. Stable. I've spoken with her, and we're hanging in there. She's hanging in there. 'We're praying. She's fighting.' Williams has postponed her new series until October 4, but those working on the show said they fear for its longevity. 'No one can tell her 'No.' People are afraid to speak up,' a source told The Sun. Another show insider previously told the site: 'The staff has been back for weeks now anticipating to have the show return at the end of the month. 'Now with the premiere pushed back, staff are increasingly concerned about the fate of the show.' All rights reserved for this news site (dailymail) and under his responsibility
