A startled house cat has seemingly predicted the 'once-in-a-lifetime' earthquake in Victoria after its owner noticed 'bizarre' behaviour exhibited by the feline moments before the tremors began.
Brodie Lancaster shared the footage to Twitter on Wednesday morning after filming her cat Carol, playing with her new toy.
A magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit at 9.15am on Wednesday near the small town of Mansfield, 180km northeast of Melbourne, according to Geoscience Australia.

The first quake was followed by two 4.0 and 3.1 magnitude aftershocks recorded 18 and 39 minutes later.
The earthquake rocked Melbourne, and tremors were felt as far away as NSW and Tasmania.
'Not a joke: the earthquake started as I was filming Carol playing with her new floppy fish toy,' Ms Lancaster wrote.
