The son of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro slammed ‘Marxist’ Mayor Bill de Blasio for forcing his unvaccinated father to eat pizza on a Manhattan sidewalk while his father is in town for the United Nations General Assembly.

Eduardo Bolsonaro, 37, who is also a Brazilian lawmaker representing his father’s far-right Social Liberal Party, told Fox News that de Blasio’s vaccine mandate was a deliberate ploy to impose 'control.'

He also compared de Blasio to the late Venezuelan socialist leader Hugo Chavez, warning that if other American leaders adopted the mayor’s policies then the United States would be thrown into similar chaos engulfing Venezuela under Chavez’s successor, Nicolas Maduro.

‘I have advice for the American people,’ Eduardo told Fox News.

‘Do not think that Venezuela is something far, far away from you.

‘If you told Venezuelans during the '90s [the country] would turn itself to a dictatorship, they would never take it seriously.’

De Blasio snapped back on Twitter, saying he did not regret his decision to force Jair to follow the city's indoor dining policy and urged the president to get vaccinated at New York City's many vaccination centers.

The mayor drew the ire of the Brazilian leader after he mentioned him by name, telling him not to ‘bother coming’ if he was not going to abide by the vaccine mandate.

The mandate requires New Yorkers as well as visitors to show proof of vaccination before being served at indoor restaurants.

‘We need to send the message to all the world leaders, including most notably Bolsonaro from Brazil… If you don't want to be vaccinated, don't bother coming because everyone should be safe together,’ the mayor said on Monday.

De Blasio’s remarks did not sit well with Eduardo, who is among his father’s delegation to the UN.

'It shows a lot about how left-wing people are,' Eduardo told Tucker Carlson on Tuesday.

'They want to control everything. I know that De Blasio is a Marxist and he follows a lot of what Antonio Gramsci says.'

Gramsci was an Italian Marxist who helped found Italy's Communist Party. He died in 1937.

Eduardo continued: 'For them, everything's about politics and ideology.

'I don't care about much of what he thinks, I don’t waste my time listening to him.'

During his appearance on Fox News, Eduardo warned that de Blasio’s policies were being adopted in cities throughout the United States.

He said that Brazilians were disappointed in that they viewed the US as a country that promoted ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness’ - as stated in the Declaration of Independence.

'Nowadays, it looks like some politicians have forgot about that,' Eduardo said.

‘They don’t care about that. They want to control everybody’s life – and in the point that even the Taliban can talk things about free speech to the Big Tech – this is an example if the US is going to talk about liberty and democracy.

‘We are scared about what is going on in the US.’

Jair, the leader of the world's sixth most populous country, was forced to eat pizza on a Manhattan sidewalk on Sunday after he was refused indoor dining service due to his refusal to get vaccinated.

The photo of the president and his inner circle of advisers eating pizza on the sidewalk went viral on social media.

Jair, who has been criticized for his handling of the pandemic in Brazil, recovered from COVID-19. He claims he does not need to get vaccinated due to natural immunity created by the body after infection.
