A 'laidback and easy going' man has died after his throat was allegedly slashed by a stranger inside a busy shopping centre as police charge his accused attacker with murder.
The alleged victim, 51, died 20 minutes after he was allegedly set upon during what police describe as a 'chance happening' at the Cairns Central Shopping Centre.
He was allegedly attacked on the ground floor about 8am Wednesday before businesses had opened for the day.
