A police officer has been charged with misconduct after he allegedly helped escort his daughter across the state border from NSW to Queensland in time for her 21st birthday.
Senior constable Robert Eickenloff allegedly escorted his daughter Maddison, 20, through the NSW border on September 15, despite her not having the correct border pass, the Courier Mail reported.
Miss Eickenloff, who had been working in Thredbo as a ski instructor, is believe to have met her father in northern NSW before he allegedly drove the pair through the border checkpoint and then on to their home in the Gold Coast.
Police officers monitoring vehicles at the border reported the alleged incident, leading to Mr Eickenloff's suspension from official duties and a criminal investigation by the Queensland Police Service's Ethical Standards Command into his actions.
It's alleged she attempted entered Queensland by falsely indicating she was an essential worker on her border document.
