Counter terrorism police have arrested six people in a night-time raid on a Yorkshire takeaway shop.

Armed officers led five men and a woman out of the Chicken Diner in the Ravensthorpe area of Dewsbury last night. 

They were detained under the Explosive Substances Act on suspicion of making or possessing explosives.

The intelligence-led operation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East and West Yorkshire Police was targeting the chicken shop and the property above.

Police closed Huddersfield Road in both directions as the operation got underway at the junction of Calder Road.
