The state government announced on Monday that gyms can reopen their doors under the 1 person per 4sqm rule and will be able to offer classes for up to 20 people. Other indoor recreation facilities including swimming pools will also welcome back patrons. The announcement is welcome news to Sydneysiders who've been forced to work out from home for three months. Premier Gladys Berejiklian has confirmed Sydney's lockdown will end on October 11, the Monday after the 70 per cent vaccination rate will be reached. Gym junkies will finally be able to hit the weights once New South Wales hits 70 per cent double dosed which is expected in just two weeks This will allow five people to visit a home, pubs and restaurants to open for seated service only, and hair and beauty salons to restart with a cap of five patrons. More details have also now emerged about the freedoms expected once 80 per cent of the population have received both jabs. The rules will slightly relax to allow 10 visitors to a home, community sport and drinking while standing up in a pub or nightclub. A one person per four square metre rule will be in place for indoor venues and a one person per two square metre rule for outdoors. More to come.
