Residents in New South Wales could be due a share of a jackpot $467million treasure chest just waiting to be claimed.

The bumper cash haul is forgotten money held by Revenue NSW from abandoned share dividends, trust accounts, refunds, commissions and deceased estates.

And it's all just a few clicks away, with an easy online search engine immediately telling you if you're in the money or not. 

Now NSW Finance and Small Business Minister Damien Tudehope has encouraged NSW locals to take a peek to see if they've got a windfall waiting for them.

'We know many people are doing it tough, especially during the pandemic, with most households having to keep a close eye on their budget,' he said on Tuesday. 

'You could have hundreds or thousands of dollars that you didn't know about.'

He added: 'The largest single amount on the unclaimed money register is more than $1 million from a deceased estate in Cabramatta.

'There are 10 amounts of more than $500,000 each, waiting to be collected by the rightful owners.'
