A double shooting in Milwaukee left an 11-year-old dead and her five-year-old sister injured on Saturday, as the city experiences an alarming, record-breaking rise in gun violence against minors. 

Milwaukee Police said the incident happened around 9pm in the Sherman Park neighborhood. 

Taniyla Parker and her younger sister, who has not been named, were inside a car with other family members on the 3100 block of N. Sherman Boulevard, when they were targeted by another vehicle. 

The suspects, who have yet to be identified, opened fired and wounded the two victims.  

'The Milwaukee Police Department sends our condolences to the victim's family and friends,' police said in a statement.
