A pregnant woman who heartlessly mocked a grieving mother she barely knew by repeatedly shouting the name of her dead daughter in the street outside her Manchester home has avoided prison.

Shelby Gratty, 21, also made a false 999 call to the fire service, sent numerous social media messages and ordered unpaid-for takeaways to the home of of Michelle Snape, 41, during a grim campaign of harassment.

Minshull Street Crown Court heard that Gratty, who is eight weeks pregnant, targeted Ms Snape as she was the cousin of her abusive ex-boyfriend, despite the pair barely knowing each other.

On one occasion, the mother-to-be made a hoax call to emergency services reporting a fire at Ms Snape's house before sending her a message on Instagram asking: 'Is your house on fire? - hahaha!'

Ms Snape then had to explain to confused firefighters that she had not made the call.

The victim had to do the same to delivery drivers after five takeaways were ordered to her home over a six-day period between October 5 and October 10.

On another occasion, Gratty also took a taxi to Ms Snape's address and asked it to stop outside before shouting the name of her late unnamed child to cause deliberate upset.

When Ms Snape blocked Gratty on social media, she created a new account and continued her tirade.

Clare Brocklebank, prosecuting, told the court: 'Miss Snape knows Gratty through a family friend and also knows her through a neighbour and close friend, who was a complainant in another case related to the defendant.

'Between those dates, the defendant arranged for five takeaways to be delivered to Miss Snape's address that she hadn't ordered. She found a delivery driver asking for money. He then took the food back to the restaurant and it caused confusion and annoyance.

'Particularly upsetting to Miss Snape was an incident during that period where the defendant pulled up in a taxi outside her address.

'The taxi beeped the horn, and then she shouted the name of Miss Snape's daughter who passed away. It was very upsetting to her.'

The court heard that Gratty had been in a 'volatile' 18-month relationship with former partner Teejay Etchells - the cousin of Ms Snape.
