The £50 million M49 junction dubbed Britain's most expensive 'dead end' after its completion in 2019 may finally be connected to surrounding roads, but not until the end of 2022.
The junction was built by National Highways to connect a large distribution park, used by Tesco, Lidl, Amazon and The Range, to the M49 near Avonmouth, Gloucestershire.
However, a link road is still yet to be built nearly two years on due to a long-running battle over who is responsible for connecting the new junction to the local road network.
South Gloucestershire Council claims the owners of the business park, Delta Properties, are responsible for the link road.
That claim is refuted by the owners, who claim to have 'no legal obligation' to construct
