Two men travelling down the motorway were surprised to see a unique passenger riding on top of a van roof in front of them - a fox.

Footage of the animal's unusual morning commute shows the fox moving around the top of a van as traffic going 70mph passes under a bridge on the M2 near Bredhurst, Kent.

Mithul Santhosh saw the bizarre events unfold last Friday while he was taking his friend Sooraj Vijay to work at 6.50am.

The baffled commuters said they were concerned the fox may cause an accident on the road but the van driver later pulled over to retrieve the furry van surfer.

The pair believe another driver may have warned him, or that he may have heard his footsteps through the roof.

Mr Santhosh, who is from Gillingham, Kent said: 'I've never seen anything like that before in my life.
