A disgraced teaching assistant who was jailed for targeting two school boys online has been caught chatting to a third after he was released from prison early.

Kieran Cotterill was sacked from a special needs school last year after he sent indecent images to two pupils, who were aged 13 and 14.

The 29-year-old, from Oldham, was released from prison in December after serving part of 20-month sentence.

However, a court heard he then downloaded Snapchat and used the quick add feature - which randomly suggests he contact users based on mutual friends - to communicate with a third boy who was also one of his former pupils.

During the exchanges the 14-year old boy claimed Cotterill, had falsely told him he was 15, said his name was Brandon and asked for pictures.

Cotterill was then taken back to jail and ordered to serve the remainder of his sentence after the boy told his teachers and showed them the messages.

He admitted breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which banned him from communicating with children but he denied making any indecent overtures towards the unnamed boy.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, Cotterill faced a further period behind bars for breaching the SHPO but was given nine months jail suspended for two years and was sent on the Government's Horizon programme for convicted sex offenders.

Police are still analysing his phone to establish whether there were any other possible illicit communications.

The court heard Cotterill, from Hathershaw, Oldham had been jailed for 20 months in February last year after he was found guilty of engaging in sexual communication with a child, causing a child to watch a sexual act and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

He had befriended two pupils aged 13 and 14 years old at the school - which cannot be named - before grooming and manipulating them by sending them nude selfies of him pleasuring himself telling the lads it was 'natural and fun.'
