‘Funeral crashers’ Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump ‘had no goddamn business’ attending the Washington, DC, memorial service for the late Senator John McCain, his daughter, Meghan, said.

Meghan McCain said she was upset when former President Donald Trump’s daughter and son-in-law were spotted at Washington National Cathedral for the memorial service for the late Arizona senator three years ago.

The DailyMail.com columnist, who is promoting her new audio memoir Bad Republican, has said in the past that the McCain family made clear that the Trumps were not welcome at the funeral.

During an appearance on Wednesday’s Watch What Happens Live on Bravo, host Andy Cohen asked Meghan: 'At your father's funeral you spotted Ivanka and Jared at the back of the church. In your memoir you referred to them as “funeral crashers”.

‘What motivated them to come, do you think?' Cohen asked.

'I've heard lots of different stories. One of my dad's old advisers told me that it was just an event that they wanted to go to because his funeral at the National Cathedral ended up being this enormous moment. I was told Lindsey Graham invited him. I've been told many different things from many different people,' Meghan McCain said.

'They should never have come. They had no business being there. I remember seeing them and seeing her specifically. They had no goddamn business being there and it's something that still angers me, clearly,' she added.

Cohen also asked about the memoir story of her taking a phone call from Donald Trump while her late father was sick.

Senator John McCain

Before his death in August 2018, the late Senator John McCain (right) explicitly demanded that then-President Donald Trump (left) not be invited to his funeral services

'He called because there was a report in Axios by [journalist] Mike Allen that he had been making fun of my dad's [war] injuries,' Meghan said.

According to the report, Trump mocked John McCain’s gait. McCain walked with a limp due to injuries he sustained in captivity in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The DailyMail.com columnist shared that she got a call from the White House after tweeting about the article and her late father urged her to respect the office and take President Trump's call.

'It was a very weird conversation. He said, "It's all fake news, it's a lie. I never did that, I never did that, I never did that."

'And then he put Melania on the speakerphone,' Meghan said.

'She said, "We love you. We love you."

'And I said, "No, you don't."

'I don't know what this is, it was very uncomfortable because it was the only time I ever had an interaction with them,' Meghan said.

She added: 'It was the closest they have ever come to realizing what they were doing and the damage it caused.

'He lost Arizona, so all's well now.'

In the 2020 election, Meghan McCain’s mother, Cindy McCain, endorsed Trump’s Democratic opponent, Joe Biden.

Biden ended up winning Arizona by more than 10,000 votes.

Election observers said Trump’s attacks on John McCain persuaded enough Republicans in the state to cross party lines and cast their ballots for Biden – handing the Democrat Arizona’s 11 Electoral College votes.

This is the second time in recent years that Meghan McCain has publicly blasted Kushner and his wife for attending the memorial service.

During a February 2019 appearance on CBS’ Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she described being shocked at seeing the couple at the ceremony.

'The Trumps had beef with me then, and in the words of Cardi B, they're gonna have beef with me forever, and I'm not gonna forget,' she said, referring to the rapper's lyrics in the 2016 song Foreva.

'It's sort of a strange element of my life now that they attended, and I wish they had chosen not to, out of respect, if nothing more, for me,' she added.

'I thought that my family had made it clear, or at least I had, that the Trumps are unwelcome around me, and that my father had been sort of very clear about the line between the McCains and the Trumps,' she told Colbert.

'So I was surprised when they were there. And it made me uncomfortable, and I hope I made them uncomfortable, honestly, with everything,' she continued, referring to her jibes at President Donald Trump while eulogizing her father.

During her eulogy, Meghan McCain criticized 'cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice (her father) gave so willingly.'

Speaking with Colbert, Meghan McCain added of Kushner and Ivanka: 'It's their call, and I think America can judge on its own what they thought of that, and what they thought of my eulogy.'

Senator John McCain, who passed away after he was diagnosed with glioblastoma in late August 2018, was the target of then-President Trump’s barbs and put-downs.
