Adam Somyurek: Ex-Victorian Labor minister called as IBAC witness
Former Labor minister at the centre of 60 Minutes expose is set to be dragged in front of a corruption inquiry

A former Victorian Labor minister accused of using his parliamentary staff to create fake branch members and amass party influence is set to appear in front of an anti-corruption inquiry into the allegations.

Adem Somyurek will appear as a witness over four days this week from Monday to Friday, excluding Wednesday when no public hearings are scheduled.

Mr Somyurek quit the Labor Party last year before he was expelled following a 60 Minutes investigation, which caught him handing over cash and using parliamentary staff to create fake branch members.

The practice, known as branch stacking, was allegedly carried out to boost his moderate faction's influence and ensure preferred candidates were preselected.
