The select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot sent new subpoenas on Monday to six Trump allies and advisers involved in the ex-president's plot to try and overturn the 2020 election results.

Those called to testify before the panel are Jason Miller, William Stepien, Michael Flynn, Angela McCallum, John Eastman and Bernard Kerik.

'These six individuals include staff members of the former President's campaign and individuals associated with the so-called 'war room' that drove efforts to halt the counting of electoral votes in the runup to the violence of January 6th,' the committee tweeted in announcing the subpoenas.

The committee's chairman, Representative Bennie Thompson said in a Monday statement that he expects all witnesses to cooperate with the subpoenas – weeks after Steve Bannon refused to comply with a subpoena from the committee for his testimony.

Attorney General Merrick Garland still wouldn't say on Monday if he will force Bannon to comply with testifying after the House in October voted him in contempt of Congress and referred his case to the Justice Department.

It is unclear whether the panel, created by Democrats with only two Republican members, can do anything to expedite the DOJ process or further compel the agency to go forward with criminal referrals.

This could be a signal to future witnesses, like the six sent letters on Monday, that they can refuse to comply and receive little to no punishment.

'In the days before the January 6th attack, the former President's closest allies and advisors drove a campaign of misinformation about the election and planned ways to stop the count of Electoral College votes,' Thompson wrote in arguing for their testimony.

He added: 'The Select Committee needs to know every detail about their efforts to overturn
