Australia will hit a major Covid milestone today as the country moves towards ending all state border closures and re-opening to the world.
Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt confirmed the country will surpass 90 per cent first dose vaccination rates in what he is labelling 'milestone day'.
'During the course of today, we will pass 90 per cent first vaccinations across the country,' he said on Thursday morning.
'About 1pm in a country general practice, in an Indigenous medical clinic or a suburban pharmacy, someone will be the Australian who ticks us over 90 per cent of 16 plus who have a vaccination.'
