A woman claims her car was crushed by her local council two days before she received a notice of abandonment in the mail.

High school lab technician Wendy Tucker says her 1997 burgundy Toyota Camry Conquest was legally parked near her daughter's home a quiet street at Point Clare for eight weeks during lockdown.

But the Central Coast Council towed the car and crushed it before she was even told it was a problem in the first place.

At first Ms Tucker thought it had been stolen after her son-in-law arrived, didn't see the car and asked her where it was.
