Republican Sen. Rob Portman said Monday that President Donald Trump deserved some credit for the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill that Democratic President Joe Biden was about to sign into law. 

'By making infrastructure a real priority in his administration, President Trump furthered the discussion,' Portman said, speaking at the White House's signing ceremony. 'And helped Republicans like me think differently about the positive impact of investment in core infrastructure.'   

During his brief speech, the Ohio Republican also made clear that he was against Biden's other big legislative priority - the $1.75 trillion Build Back Better reconciliation bill, which still needs to be passed by Congress.
