Cramped west London studio flat is slammed as a 'Harry Potter cupboard'

A cramped London studio flat that has a bed only accessible via a ladder has been compared to Harry Potter's 'cupboard under the stairs'.

The tiny studio apartment, in Vanston Place, Fulham, west London, has shocked social media users after they spotted the bed squeezed under a slanted attic roof, which is only accessible via a handmade wooden ladder.

But unlike the cupboard where the boy wizard sleeps in the fictional fantasy series, this cluttered roof dwelling is real and now being advertised to rent for £800 per month after the landlord reduced the property, which was initially listed at £949.

Shocking photos expose cramped living conditions on offer in the room, which is only a five-minute walk from Fulham Broadway underground station.

The warren-like studio is crammed with kitchen appliances and clothes and is decorated with exposed bricks on one wall.

But the most alarming feature of the room is the bunk bed-style wooden structure built up towards its ceiling - designed to be the 'bedroom' area.

It is accessed via ladder, leading to a slanting alcove beneath the roof, housing a few boxes of possessions and a double bed.

A bathroom and toilet are accessible somewhere else in the building, according to the rental advert, and features a small shower area.
