Cats may be banned from walking around freely in Fremantle, Australia in the near future.
Councillors in the Western Australian city backed a motion which, if approved, could see the animal banned from all city-owned and managed property unless they're on a leash.
Natural bushland areas, verge gardens, median strips and streets trees, which are considered wildlife refuge, would be included too.
A proposed amendment, which could affect the 750 cats registered in Fremantle, will now be drafted by city officers
The motion was put forth in a meeting earlier this week.
The move to begin amending the Cat Management Local Law 2020 in such a way could see the cats prohibited from roads, to save them from being hit by vehicles,
