A man has been arrested at gunpoint by police after allegedly hiring a hitman to shoot his ex-girlfriend's mother at her home in front of her eight-week old grandchild.
Stuart Daniel Campbell, 29, was arrested while driving his mobile home at Honeysuckle in Newcastle, NSW, on Friday.
Detectives allege he hired a hitman to gun down Stacey Klimovitch, 61, after the pair's relationship deteriorated.
Mrs Klimovitch was allegedly shot through the screen door of her flat on Queen Street at 8pm on June 9.
