Within minutes of the mandate, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said on Twitter that face coverings will be necessary on public transport and 'in some other indoor settings'. He also reiterated Mr Johnson's crackdown on travel. The full detail of the 'tightened' rules will be announced in the next few days he said. However he did not mention the hospitality trade which would be devastated by new rules in the run-up to the Christmas period.
