'Mean girl' Melissa DeRosa, the former top aide to disgraced ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, had some harsh words for his successor's handling of the coronavirus pandemic on Friday night in a now-deleted tweet.
DeRosa's tweet came just hours after Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency to deal with the ominous Omicron strain of COVID-19, and weeks after Hochul was spotted maskless inside a crowded Manhattan sports bar, according to the New York Post.
'Time to shift with the times - ribbon cuttings and photo ops drinking beers in UES bars maskless won’t get this job done,' DeRosa, the former secretary to the governor, said in a tweet she quickly deleted.
DeRosa added that the Cuomo administration was correct in centralizing control during the coronavirus pandemic, while chastising Hochul's efforts to spread that kind of power to municipal governments.
'Have been back upstate for 3 days and have to say, the lack of mask wearing is deeply disturbing,' DeRosa said in another tweet Friday evening.

'Food for thought Deferring mask mandates to local governments isn’t ’empowering’ it’s abdicating responsibility.'
On Saturday, DeRosa told the Post that she deleted the harsh tweet to avoid 'distracting' the current public health concern.
'(I) communicated my feelings on that in a series of tweets, but thought better of one, which I realized might distract from the actual public health concern and so I
