A mechanic has been tragically crushed to death while attempting to fix a broken- down garbage truck on a busy freeway.
The 53-year-old man was attempting to repair the vehicle near the M1 motorway on Stapylton-Jacobs Well Rd at Yatala on Queensland's Gold Coast on Tuesday.
It's understood the man was crushed by the truck's rubbish compactor.
