Six climate protestors have been arrested after tying themselves to train tracks and carriages in a bizarre attempt to shut down a coal mine in Queensland.
The group of environmental activists were desperate to stop what they believed was the initial shipment of coal from a north Queensland mine on Tuesday.
But Bravus Mining and Resources - formerly known as Adani Australia - said despite the protests, the Carmichael Mine has been transporting coal for weeks.
Five of the activists, including a mother and daughter, were taken into custody at Bowen Police Station after being cut free.
Officers eventually arresting another man, Tom Ryan, who locked himself to a train carriage and was removed with the aid of a cherry picker about 3pm.
Police were on the scene early, with officers removing protesters Tammy Omodei and Andy Paine after they used steel pipes to attach themselves to a railway line about 30km outside Bowen around 6am on Tuesday.
