Two mothers murdered a man at a New Year's Eve party while their six children were upstairs after he snatched both of their mobile phones in a row, a court has heard.

Hannah Sindrey, 24, is accused alongside co-defendant Kelly Blackwell, 26, of killing Sindrey's 31-year-old boyfriend Paul Fletcher, who was stabbed through the heart at her home in Rayleigh in Essex.

Prosecutor Christine Agnew QC told a trial at Basildon Crown Court that Mr Fletcher took the women's phones after taking cocaine and becoming paranoid that Sindrey may have been cheating on him.

A neighbour heard Sindrey on the balcony shouting: 'Call the police, he's been stabbed', the court heard.

Another said that Blackwell appeared 'intoxicated, crawling up the stairs covered in blood  and shouting "my babies".'

Ms Agnew said that a neighbour called police in the early hours of New Year's Day and Mr Fletcher, also known as Dod, was found to have been stabbed.

Sindrey, of Rayleigh, and Blackwell, of Basildon, deny murder.
