Kyle Rittenhouse is no longer enrolled at the Arizona State University (ASU) following student protests demanding his withdrawal from campus despite a jury acquitting him on murder charges earlier this month.

The university has confirmed Rittenhouse's decision to leave campus, saying he was only registered part-time last year for a non-degree online course that he did not complete.

'Our records show that he is not currently enrolled,' ASU spokesperson Jay Thorne said in a statement to The Arizona Republic, adding that the decision taken by Rittenhouse was not a result of any action taken by the university against him.

A spokesperson for Arizona State University told Dailymail.com that Rittenhouse has 'not gone through the ASU admissions procession. University records show that he is not currently enrolled in any classes at ASU.'

Rittenhouse, 18, was found not guilty of homicide after being charged with killing two men and injuring a third with a semi-automatic rifle during a 2020 protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

He testified in court that he was a student at Arizona State University for an online nursing class and had added that he would like to physically attend class in several press interviews.

Following the acquittal, some students were furious and demanded that the 'violent murderer' not attend.

During an appearance on The Charlie Kirk Show that was filmed Monday and posted Tuesday, Rittenhouse said he 'doesn't really care' about the protests.

'Look, I don't really care that they're protesting,' he said. 'I think it's actually very silly and funny but I agree with everyone's right to demonstrate, no matter how silly it is.'

While ASU students had voiced their outrage about Rittenhouse being a student, many spoke out on his behalf.

U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs, a Republican from Arizona, tweeted that Rittenhouse is innocent, therefore he should be 'free to take classes and live his life.'

Jordan Conradson, a correspondent for the far-right fake news website The Gateway Pundit, said: 'I'd disenroll too! ASU should discipline the students who discriminated against Kyle and attempted to intimidate him on campus, and Kyle should never give a dime to any Marxist University!'
