Former AFL player and coach Dani Laidley has filed a fresh complaint against Victoria Police, amid fears officers allegedly accessed and shared personal videos and text messages from her mobile phone.

Her lawyer has confirmed a formal allegation has been lodged about the night Laidley spent in custody at St Kilda Police in May 2020, over concerns personal information was downloaded and distributed without her knowledge or consent.

It's understood the new issue emerged during legal proceedings with Victoria Police over the leak of her mugshot and an unauthorised photo of her wearing a dress, blonde wig, fake nails and make-up allegedly secretly taken by an officer while she was under arrest in a police interview room, the Herald Sun reported.

'This is something that Dani has had grave concerns about for a long period of time. We have lodged a formal complaint with Victoria Police about this issue,' Ms Laidley's lawyer Jeremy King told the publication.

'We are currently in the dark about what exactly has happened here.'

Victoria Police said it was unable to comment on the fresh allegations, with criminal proceedings in relation to the alleged leaking of Ms Laidley’s interview room photo currently before the courts.

It comes as Victoria’s independent broad-based anti-corruption commission continues to investigate claims police recently shared photos of Ms Laidley the races in Geelong, allegedly accompanied by transphobic comments.

The commission has appealed for public information in relation to the alleged claims.
