Candice Warner has gone on the offensive for her cricket star husband again, this time questioning why he is the only player still being punished for Sandpapergate.
David Warner and Steve Smith were handed 12 month bans and Cameron Bancroft six months for their roles in the 2018 Cape Town scandal where Bancroft used yellow sandpaper to alter the condition of the ball.
Cricket Australia concluded during its investigation that it was Warner who concocted the plan and ultimately decided he 'will not be considered for team leadership positions ever again.'
Candice, appearing on 2GB on Wednesday, lamented the lingering penalties against her partner - particularly after Smith was recently promoted to the team's vice captain.
'I have to be very careful with what I say,' she told the station. 'I take my hat off to David, to Steve and Cameron who are continuing to play now. They've done their time.'
