Jeffrey Epstein victim Sarah Ransome has said she wants to see Ghislaine Maxwell 'behind bars for the rest of her life'.

She claims Maxwell, who is on trial for recruiting and grooming underage girls, 'tortured and abused her and other survivors' but is not testifying in the ongoing court case.

'Jeffrey's dead. Ghislaine's here. I want Ghislaine behind bars for the rest of her life purely because she is that sick. The public are not safe with her on the street,' Ransome told CBS News

Ransome was seen attending the New York court on November 29, the first day of Maxwell's trial. As she arrived, she told reporters: 'I never thought this day would come.'

She accused Epstein and Maxwell of years of sexual abuse but withdrew the lawsuit in 2018 after agreeing a settlement - the terms of which were not disclosed. But it is thought to be the reason Ransome is not testifying against Maxwell in the current court case.

Ransome, who was born in South Africa to British parents, previously said she was introduced to Epstein aged 22 in 2006 after being approached by a woman in a nightclub in New York.

She was later lured to the disgraced billionaire's island on Little St James in the Caribbean, where she spent five months being abused and raped three times a day before managing to escape.

Ransome yesterday released a book, "Silenced No More: Surviving My Journey to Hell and Back", in which she tells her story.

Speaking about her new book, Ransome said it was 'sick' that Maxwell's defense team had described the defendant as a scapegoat for Epstein's crimes on the opening day of her trial.

She also hit back at claims pushed by Maxwell's siblings that prosecutors and victims want to punish her for Epstein's crimes because he is dead and cannot be held accountable.

'I want people to know what happened. And me being and speaking and living my truth has set me free. It's set me free.'

Ransome said she remembers 'very distinctly' being warned by Epstein to listen to Maxwell: 'You do exactly what she says and you don't cross her', he told her.

She also claimed Epstein threatened to kill her and her family if
