Buffalo News reporter Stephen Watson shared the horrifying moment on Twitter Wednesday afternoon. He said the car had somehow fallen into the Niagara River near the brink of the falls. Rescue crews quickly arrived on the scene, and some members of the Coast Guard were able to break down his passenger-side door to free the motorist after descending on the river in a helicopter. It is unclear how the car wound up in the river, and a news conference is expected later this afternoon. NIAGARA FALLS ACTION: the Coast Guard have lowered an officer into the car to determine if there any any occupants.
