A 79-year-old man was punched in the head in an unprovoked attack in Brooklyn, New York on Friday lunchtime.
The brutal assault occurred as the elderly man, named as Ralph Belgrove, was speaking with another person on the street in the Gowanus area of the borough when he was suddenly the victim of a random assault.
From out of nowhere, a black man on a scooter, identified as 29-year-old Disheem Riley, carefully pulled over to the side of the road parked up before walking over to his unassuming victim.
The NYPD released a video of the vicious attack on Saturday with video that shows the suspect riding a motorized scooter and parking it up before the attack
The would-be attacker can be seen parking up his moped at the side of the road in Brooklyn before creeping up behind the elderly man
The man walks to the sidewalk, where the victim was standing with a cane
He walked a few feet towards the where two men were having a conversation on the street, before coming up alongside Belgrove.
For a moment, the would-be attacker took a look around before slinging his fist.
Without warning, Riley punched Belgrove in the head knocking him over in one fell swoop.
The man was sent tumbling to the ground instantly while the assailant made a quick getaway.
'Next thing I know, I'm on the ground,' Belgrove said to the New York Daily News.
