The 25-year-old's AFL career with the Magpies hangs in the balance after a night out in New York in October resulted in him charged with assault. De Goey appeared in New York court via videolink from Melbourne on Wednesday over assault and harassment charges. The midfielder-forward was stood down by Collingwood soon after the alleged incident at a Halloween-themed party at PHD Rooftop Lounge on October 30. An earlier charge of forcible touching was dropped only days after his arrest. Collingwood previously released a statement confirming De Goey was stood down from all club duties. Prosecutor Brendan Mahon said 'the people are likely' to offer a conditional plea deal for a charge of harassment in the second degree after they obtained 'video surveillance footage' of the alleged incident. Judge Anna Swern called for a brief adjournment and warned De Goey, who appeared on screen wearing a white collared shirt and a black jacket, that he 'must be back' for the hearing. 'Collingwood continues to assess the course of the case against Jordan and awaits meaningful developments that will allow for a more complete review of the facts,' the club's statement read. 'Until that time Jordan will remain stood down. 'Collingwood officials met with Jordan and he will continue to be paid in full while stood down and receive welfare support services through the club.' De Goey travelled to the US during the off-season to undergo an intensive fitness program at the W Training Facility in California in an attempt to capitalise on an outstanding end to the 2021 AFL season. After returning to Australia on November 30, De Goey has been seeking alternative avenues to keep training as he is barred from attending Collingwood's headquarters. De Goey has played 118 games and kicked 155 goals for Collingwood after debuting in 2015.
