A tennis star has won the hearts of fans at the Australian Open for a kind act of sportsmanship towards his injured opponent who had just defeated him in a thrilling match.
Slovakian world number 74 Alex Molcan was moments away from clinching a gruelling first round win against Russian opponent Roman Safiullin when he was suddenly hit with an agonising cramp in his leg.
He was leading 5-1 in a fourth set tiebreak and just two points away from progressing to the second round.
Molcan struggled to move around the court, which sparked a late fightback from Safiullin, who won five of the next six points to almost snatch the set.
