Australians in need of a break could more than double the length of their upcoming holidays without draining their annual leave balance.
The Today Show's finance expert Effie Zahos revealed hardworking Australians can maximise their vacations by booking their annual leave around public holidays.
'It's the old trick of adding your annual leave to public holidays...if you target the main holidays you can actually double it,' she told Today on Friday.

Holidaymakers could score themselves nine days off in the lead up to Australia day, by only taking four days of annual leave from the 22nd to 28th of January.
This means Aussies would get the 22nd to the 30th off because the public holiday falls on a Wednesday, leaving the remaining days weekends.
Employees can take a whopping 17 day break between the 15th of April to May 1st
