A tradesman was miraculous not seriously injured when his ute was crushed by a rubbish truck in a freak road accident.

Despite being trapped for more than two and a half hours after the truck rolled over onto his vehicle, the 30-year-old man emerged with only minor cuts to his head, neck, shoulder, and legs.

The crash happened near the intersection of Barrenjoey Road and The Serpentine at Bilgola Beach just before 7am.
