Footage filmed by Lorrie Brown in Branson, Missouri, shows her dog Kai swimming in a duck pond near a hiking trail The drake proceeds to chase Kai through the water, repeatedly pecking at the dog's neck and ear with his beak Surprisingly for a retriever, the dog does not try to snatch the duck but simply swims faster to avoid him. With the drake hot on his tail, Kai swims to shore - and his companion dog Junie, who is waiting near the water's edge. He quickly comes out of the water, looking at the duck and bounding towards Mrs Brown. The drake appears to be protecting two female ducks from the furry interloper. The rest of the ducks stay back while the dog is confronted by the protective one The video has gone viral since being posted on TikTok on November 7, with more than 202.1k views and more than 10k likes. One commenter wrote: 'That duck is really mean! I wonder if it'll act like that in the pool next summer LOL!' And another wrote 'that duck is playin' with fire' while others pointed out that their golden retrievers would have grabbed the duck. Mrs Brown replied: 'My oldest Golden would have too. This one was little when the ducks were born.' The family started building trails at their house when the dog park and walking trails near them closed due to COVID-19. Mrs Brown and her family have since built 10 miles of trails including a cabin, pond and campground. The trails have acted as a source of entertainment, refreshment and exercise for Mrs Brown and her three dogs. She said her cats have joined in on the hikes and she has befriended a deer, as well as meeting the family of ducks. Her dogs love water and often swim in the river. The family share their adventures on social media in their 10 miles of hiking trails. Eventually, it shakes the duck off and pitches up on the water's edge, looking at its owner and back at the duck Share or comment on this article: All rights reserved for this news site (dailymail) and under his responsibility
