The son of a Holocaust survivor was appalled to discover a makeshift wooden swastika in the backyard of a Melbourne property in the heart of the city's Jewish community.
The man was walking through Caulfield, an affluent suburb in the Victorian capital's south-east, on Monday afternoon when he spotted the Nazi insignia.
'Something alarming is happening in Victoria, and it's time to acknowledge that we are facing an epidemic of antisemitismm,' Anti-Defamation Commission Chairman Dr Dvir Ambramovich said.
'No Jewish person should be confronted with the emblem of evil in their own neighbourhood.'

The Jewish man, aged in his 70s, found the swastika on one of the busiest roads in the leafy suburb, not far from Princes Park.
