A soldier was today ordered to pay a colleague £1,200 compensation after she broke her nose in a jealous, drink-fuelled rage.

Private Aimee Waters smashed Private Charlotte Milner's head into a wall and punched her in the face after she saw her posing for photos with a male soldier.

The pair were part of a group drinking together outside their barracks, when Pt Milner was seen taking pictures with the male soldier, sparking the violence.

Pt Waters denied one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, claiming she acted in self-defence during the incident in June last year.

But she was convicted following a two day trial at Bulford Military Court, Wiltshire, and was today handed a suspended sentence.

The soldier also ordered to pay £1,200 in compensation to Pt Milner.

Group Captain Stephen Wetton, prosecuting, had told the trial that the incident erupted when members of one Medical Regiment were drinking on a Saturday evening outside their accommodation block in Tidworth Camp, Wiltshire.

Pt Milner told the court: 'Me and Private Lemon started taking pictures on his phone and then I felt a bottle thrown at me on my hip.
