Australians are divided over Qantas' new star-studded ad featuring some of the nation's much loved icons and landmarks.

The national airline carrier has unveiled its latest 'I Still Call Australia Home' campaign to celebrate Australia reopening to the world for the first time in two years following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020.

The emotional new ad set to air for the first time on Sunday night stars entertainers Kylie Minogue, Hugh Jackman and Troye Sivan singing the lyrics to the iconic Peter Allen hit that has been the anthem for Qantas for more than three decades.

The Australian Girls Choir together with National Boys Choir and the Gondwana Choir also play a starring role to represent the next generation.

Newly retired women's tennis champion Ash Barty is featured Face-Timing her young niece while indigenous AFL legend, and former Australian of the Year Adam Goodes is filmed taking an early morning dip at Bondi's iconic Icebergs ocean pool.

While the heartwarming ad has struck an emotional chord with many Australians, others were left unconvinced.

It comes after Qantas boss Alan Joyce admitted most of the footage was filmed before the pandemic and is now almost three years old.

Some viewers went as far as describing the new ad as cringeworthy.

'No, just no. THAT Qantas is not THIS Qantas. THAT Qantas represented Australia. THIS Qantas solely represents the warped personal politics of Alan Joyce,' one man tweeted.

Another quipped: 'But no matter how far or how wide I roam, Qantas still doesn’t answer their phone!'
