White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki reiterated Tuesday that President Joe Biden has never spoken to his son Hunter about his overseas business dealings, as she rejected the idea of a special counsel to oversee a government investigation.
Asked at her daily press briefing if it was still the case that Biden had never spoken to his son about his overseas business ventures, she responded simply: 'Yes.'
The question came after White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain said Biden was 'confident' that Hunter Biden didn't break the law, following a Washington Post report on his dealings with a Chinese energy company, and a series of reports on a federal investigation into Hunter's finances.
'Of course the president is confident that his son didn’t break the law,' said Klain.
Psaki rejected the idea of a special counsel out of hand, vouching for the independence of the Justice Department.
