Liberal election candidate Katharine Deves has declared she is not transphobic and can still win despite the controversial start to her campaign.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison's 'captain's pick' for the Sydney northern beaches seat of Warringah has told Ben Fordham on 2GB that despite being attacked for her comments on trans people participating in women's sport, she has never contemplated quitting.
'I believe this is very much an issue of equality and fairness and I have received messages of support from all over Australia,' she said.
'Australians are very much on side with my position.'
