Joe Rogan went on a misdirected tirade against an Australian state government while sharing a fake news story that its leaders were set to pass a law banning residents from growing their own food.

The popular podcaster, 54, said lawmakers were 'f***ing creeps' who 'got a good grip on people during the pandemic' before he was eventually told by a producer while on-air that the story was likely false.

Rogan, who has been widely criticised in recent years for sharing misinformation about Covid conspiracies, claimed a new law in New South Wales would make it illegal for people to grow food and raise animals.

He put on a mocking tone during his lengthy rant slamming politicians Down Under.

'Well you could grow your own food but what if there are diseases that infects the population and kills us all. We can’t have that,' the UFC commentator and comedian said.

Rogan claimed the justification for the decision was based on the risk of 'agricultural contamination'. 'You could justify it if you're a real piece of s***.'

'Most pandemics have come from agriculture. Animal agriculture. We can’t have unchecked pig ownership. That’s not fair,' he said in a mocking tone.

'We can’t have you growing vegetables. What if your vegetables have ergot growing in them, diseases. F***ing creeps.'

'We gonna stop these motherf***ers from growing their own food,' he continued because that's how you smoke out an anti-vaxxer, because you can't go to a grocery story anymore, and you can't grow your own food.'

While the controversial podcaster was ridiculing the supposed Australian law, his producer Jamie Vernon was Googling the story.

Vernon quickly realised Rogan was wrong.

He said: 'I know what to look for, but the closest thing I could find is something like this, but that's not what you were saying.'

The producer found a similar article that referred to New Zealand, which was not shown to viewers, but Rogan was insistent the new law was based in Australia. It is unclear what food-based law or process was taking place in New Zealand.

'It's got to be a real thing,' Rogan said, disheartened. 'It seems too good to not be,' he justified.

But Vernon insisted nothing came up under the search terms: 'Outlaw food Australia.'

'Not a single thing comes up,' Vernon said. 'Except for that, which was a false thing,' he said.

Rogan was quiet for a moment, before declaring: 'Yup, I can't find it either,' as he continued to search for it on his phone. 'Damn it, it better not be fake. It
