The cricket star was killed at about 10.30pm on Saturday when his ute veered off the road and hit an embankment on the outskirts of Townsville, in northern Queensland. It has since been revealed the 46-year-old Fox Sports commentator and his wife Laura were in the midst of a separation and had been living apart for months before his death. She lived in Sydney with their children, Chloe and Billy, while he remained in Townsville. Daily Mail Australia can now confirm Symonds shared a bond with 35-year-old Stefanie Rezzara, who also works at Fox Sports, after the split. Stefanie Rezzara posted a photo with Andrew Symonds two days after his death (pictured). The photo was taken during a fishing trip in Townsville Ms Rezzara visited Queensland a few times over the past few months. One friend wrote 'love u', while others responded with multiple heart emojis. Symonds was a keen fisherman and often took close friends and family out on one of his three boats. Ms Rezzara also went to Queensland a few times over the past few months. A photo posted on Instagram in July shows the publicist standing on a fishing boat and holding up her giant catch. Symonds also visited Melbourne for his work as a sports commentator - however, his most recent trip was in March to attend the funeral of his former teammate and friend, Shane Warne. Symonds lived in Townsville, Queensland Despite the split, his estranged wife Laura has been in Townsville with their children to help his mother Barbara and sister Louise organise the funeral. Laura told News Corp on Sunday: 'We are still in shock - I'm just thinking of the two kids.' 'He was just such a big person and there was so much of him in his kids.' Wednesday marked his daughter Chloe's 10th birthday - the first celebration without her father. The cause of Symonds' crash is yet to be determined. He spent Saturday morning fishing, before heading to the Brothers Leagues Club near his home in Kirwan, west of Townsville - but Queensland Police said alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Justin Wilkins, the club CEO, also said he didn't think Symonds had much to drink. He died almost three hours later when his ute veered off Hervey Range Road, about 14km west of the pub, and rolled up an embankment on his drive home from a mystery location. The cricketer's home is a two-minute drive from the club in Kirwan. The site of the crash is about 15 minutes west of Kirwan, near Alice River Bridge. Symonds' beloved pets were in the back of the red 4X4, which had personalised 'ROY' number plates at the time of the accident. It was the same vehicle the keen angler used to tow his boats on his many fishing trips. The dogs survived the crash, with one refusing to leave Symonds' body on the side of the road. Symonds' two beloved blue heelers were also in the vehicle and survived the crash (pictured, Symonds with one of his dogs) His best friend and former teammate Jimmy Maher told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday that Symonds was driving home when he veered off the road, but he didn't know where the former cricketer had been since leaving the pub. Neither did his sister Louise when asked on Monday - 'we just don't know,' she said. On Tuesday afternoon, Maher choked back tears when said: 'The family are struggling, as you'd expect, but they're also holding up.' 'It’s difficult for young kids to comprehend such a loss as the magnitude as the loss of your father.' Locals Babetha Neliman and her boyfriend Waylon Townson were on the scene just two minutes after the crash. The couple found the cricket great hanging partially out of the vehicle on the passenger side and said it was still running and playing country music.
