Cody Simpson has credited pool mentor Ian Thorpe for keeping him on the incredible dual track of representing Australia as a swimmer while keeping his international music career going.
Although music is on the "backburner" to allow Simpson to realise his swimming dream he somehow found the time to release his latest album only a month ago.
'I think every swimmer, it's important for them to have something outside of the pool to balance your life out,' Simson said.

On Wednesday night Simpson finished third in the 100-metre butterfly final at the Australia championships, which seals his spot in the Green and Gold team for the Commonwealth Games in July-August.
Simpson only seriously returned to swim training in 2019.
He said his aim was to qualify in five years but now he is not only set to swim in the Commonwealth Games but is a likely discretionary pick for the world titles in June.
