The opposition leader has snapped at Leigh Sales after she accused him of doubling-back on a wage increase, blasting journalists for 'thinking the campaign was about them'.

In the final election interview to air, Anthony Albanese appeared on 7:30 and talked jobseeker, the pandemic and taxes before butting heads with the notoriously mettlesome presenter over his plan to increase wages.

Ms Sales listed the mistakes the Labor leader had made over the campaign, telling Mr Albanese he 'wound back' the minimum wage increase he promised workers.

'That's not right, Leigh. That's not right,' Albanese fired back, before telling the host she wasn't right multiple more times, potentially coining a new political catchphrase in the process.

'You did,' she responded, but the opposition leader continued over her saying: 'we were asked a question about 'if the Fair Work Commission came out with a 5.1 per cent increase would you welcome it?' and I said 'absolutely'.'
