Donald Trump on Friday denied reports that he had dropped his support for David Perdue, who is lagging more than 30 points behind Georgia Governor Brian Kemp in the race for the Republican nomination.

Days ahead of Tuesday's primary the former president insisted he was still backing Perdue in his challenge to the 'worst governor in history.'

But Trump has seen his endorsed candidate's campaign sputter, leaving him a distant second in the race.

Sources close to Trump said he had all but given up on Perdue, and would not make any more appearance on his behalf despite being desperate to take down Kemp, who ignored his requests to overturn the state's 2020 election results.

'That is completely false!

'I am with David all the way because Brian Kemp was the worst governor in the country on election integrity!'

As a result of his fury at Kemp, Trump recruited former Sen. Perdue as a challenger.

However, many senior Republicans have remained loyal to Kemp, who now holds a commanding lead.

This week a Fox News poll found that 60 percent of Republican voters
