But the common practice of refilling glasses is falling foul of Covid concerns. Council health and safety inspectors – who are carrying out checks for the first time since the pandemic began – are urging bars to use fresh glasses every time to stop the risk of tap nozzles being contaminated. Pubs are not specifically required by law to do this but they are obliged to serve drinks in a hygienic way.
